Dr Ellen Rasidi, Exotics Veterinarian

Ellen Rasidi BBiomedSc, BSc(Vet)(Hons), BVSc

Dr Rasidi earned her veterinary degree from the University of Sydney after previously majoring in Neuroscience at the University of Melbourne, and several years working in the field of human neurodegenerative disease. She has been involved in the study of similar diseases in dogs, and conducts ongoing research into the biology and medicine of Australian birds of prey, particularly Wedge-tailed Eagles.

Dr Rasidi has eyes for exotic patients only – no cats and dogs allowed here! She has a particular passion for all birds, but loves rabbits, guinea pigs, mice and rats, turtles, snakes and lizards, fish and amphibians too. She also has a soft spot for wildlife, and works closely with many carer groups and organisations. She has completed externships at the Abu Dhabi Falcon Hospital in the UAE, and the Gabbert Raptor Center at the University of Minnesota. She completed her internship in Avian and Exotic Animal Medicine and Surgery at the Animal Referral Hospital and has been here ever since.

Apart from her partner and their fur-child, she has a collection of special-needs birds at home, including 3 doves, a pigeon and Elvis the Long-billed Corella.

Dr Jade Kingsley

Jade has been passionate about working with wildlife and exotic animals since she can remember. She completed her veterinary degree at The University of Sydney in 2012 but throughout her degree was already gaining experience through internships at the Wolong Panda Centre, North American zoos, as well as elephant hospitals in Sri Lanka and Thailand. After graduation, Jade moved to Brisbane where she worked in emergency hospitals as well as exotics/wildlife clinics.

Jade enjoys both medicine and surgery of all wildlife and exotic pets including, birds, reptiles, rabbits, ferrets, guinea pigs, rats, and mice.

Jade currently lives with three humans and a Devon Rex cat named Margaux. She enjoys anything that involves being outdoors: rock climbing, kayaking, canyoning, and scuba diving.
