Animal Attendant, Patient Liaison - Sydney

The Animal Referral Hospital (Homebush) is pleased to announce a newly created position for an evening animal attendant to facilitate patient visits 5pm-9pm, 3-4 days per week.

For pet owners, often a high degree of stress and worry occurs when their patient is hospitalised. Visiting hours (5pm to 9pm in the evenings) allow time for the pet owner to re-connect, interact, feed, pat and comfort their pet. A mature and professional person is required to facilitate such visits, ensuring the animal is clean and dry when presented to the client, provide the patient with comfortable bedding, and update the client on feeding/water and toileting. However, this position is not responsible to update the client on the medical status of their pet, and all such questions are to be directed to their doctor the following morning so the ability to manage customer expectations is incredibly important.

The evening AA/patient liaison will be a customer-focused person and enjoy interacting as much with clients as with their animals. In addition this role will require empathy, resilience and a genuine interest in animal care. Strong organizational skills plus having an awareness at all times during visiting hours of which patients are in which rooms, and ensuring as far as possible the needs of the client are met is essential to be successful in this role.
