  • Excellent and highly competitive salary and benefits package
  • Experienced and supportive team
  • State of the art facilities
  • Career development and progression opportunities

Animal Referral Hospital (ARH) Brisbane is pleased to offer a position for an experienced veterinarian to join our growing Emergency and Critical Care (ECC) team.

About us

Formed as a partnership between local Queensland specialists and the ARH group, ARH Brisbane is a recently opened specialist and emergency hospital at Sinnamon Park in Brisbane’s west. Our purpose-designed, state of the art hospital, offers small animal surgery, internal medicine and surgical and medical oncology services, in conjunction with an after-hours emergency and critical care service. Equipment includes high field MRI (under construction), 16-slice CT, Puritan Bennet ventilators, blood gas analyzer and all additional surgical, medical and ECC equipment expected of a premier specialist/emergency hospital.

The position

This opportunity would suit an energetic individual who enjoys learning, the challenge of a busy hospital and a multi-disciplinary specialist hospital environment. The ECC veterinarian will rotate through day, evening and night shifts (on average, 3 or 4 consecutive shifts followed by larger blocks of days off). Emergency experience is desirable but not essential. ECC veterinarians will report to and work under the guidance of Dr Monique Stanley, Brisbane ECC Director, with additional support provided by ARH ECC specialist, Dr Merrin Hicks.

What we can offer

A highly competitive salary, every second weekend off, 4 weeks’ annual leave, 1 week paid study leave (including an allowance), access to regular tutorials, case discussion, in-house seminars and interaction with specialists.

The partners at ARH Brisbane are down to earth people who believe that the practice of world class veterinary medicine and a fun and positive work environment do not have to be mutually exclusive. Our goal is to create a stable group of excellent veterinarians and nurses and to provide career pathways and professional development for all our team members.

About you

You have excellent communication, organisation and time management skills and have a passion for exceptional patient care and clinical service. You enjoy working as a team but also flourish individually. With a positive and flexible attitude towards work and a good sense of humour, you’ll fit in nicely with our culture. As this is a high performing team, you will also have the following skills and experience.

Essential

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a veterinarian
  • Veterinary degree with registration in QLD
  • Work rights for Australia

Desirable

  • MANZCVS, or equivalent, in ECC, small animal medicine or surgery or a willingness to undertake further study in the field of ECC

Applications should be directed to Human Resources at h.resources@arhvets.com quoting the job number BECC0717ED and include a cover letter, outlining why you would be successful in this role, and contact details for 3 referees. The position is set to commence in August/September 2017.
